Marathon Done! Now to actually losing ten pounds...

So I ran the marathon yesterday. I felt really good about it and didn't want to die too seriously at any point during or after. So I feel really good about it! I'm really proud of myself for sticking with it and going all the way. I won't do another one for a while. But maybe in a few years or so. Go me!!! :)
However during the Marathon process I lost exactly zero pounds. I didn't gain any either, I stayed exactly the same... which is really okay and to be expected when training for something like that. However, that time and excuse is over. The ten pounds are coming off! By June 1st! That is my goal. Six weeks. I am sticking to my guidelines I set at the beginning of this blog and am going to focus on getting to my goal weight. If I can run a marathon... I can lose these ten pounds!

Right Around The Corner!

Possibly the most painful thing I have ever done is run my twenty-two mile run last weekend. I ran to my sister's house in West Valley and back from my house in Sugarhouse. I think I hadn't run enough before it because I was serioulsy close to crying when I finished. Just have to add four miles to that and I have the marathon I am running in a week and a half. Hooray!

I am doing really well though. We are doing a biggest looser competion where you get points for being healthy and exercising and I have a rediculous amount of points because of how much I exercise. I don't think I'll ever run another full marathon though. This is for people who are crazy in a different way than I am.

Week Three

So, I ate a bit better this week. I did limit myself to one sweet a day. Which was good. However, I only ran six miles during the week, so after I did my twenty mile run yesterday, my legs killed me. Twenty six miles is still in my goal range, but after being lazy during the week, my legs were NOT ready for twenty miles. I can barely walk today. That hasn't happened to me for a very long time. However, I have never run twenty miles before, so this is all new territory for me.

On the weight loss front, it seems the scale has gone down between one and two pounds. I closed my show on Saturday so NO EXCUSES! I feel great though. The marathon is a month and two days away! :)

Weeks One and Two

So, the first week of my push to the end was great! I ran twenty eight miles culminating in a 17 mile run across the length of the Salt Lake Valley. My knees KILLED me once I stopped running but I felt really good when I was running and I wasn't too sore the next day which I was really happy about! I did okay eating. I am still addicted to sugar. Gotta stop that! But a good week overall.

The second week, (this past week), wasn't quite as successfull. I only got to run 20 miles, which isn't good. And the girl scout cookies I ordered arrived. Samoas! It was kinda bad news. But I just got done with an eight mile run today and I felt really good about it. I'll make it through.

Haven't lost any weight, but haven't gained any either. Gotta kick it into gear!

I must also say though, that I have a show I am directing that opens on Thursday. So while this is no excuse, the theatre folk can understand how this can be a health hazard. Once the show closes on Saturday, things will look up. Just trying to make it though with no weight gain until then...

First Post

K. So. I was looking at other people's weight loss blogs and this made me create one of my own. I have to start off this blog saying that I am already way proud of myself. I have already lost 40 lbs and really do look and feel great! I really am quite hot. :)

However, my goal when losing weight was to lose 50 lbs. I have stopped 10lbs short of my goal and am getting a bit complacent and lazy about getting rid of these last ten pounds. So, here is my blog that will document the jouney that will say goodbye to those last ten. Also, that will keep the previous fourty gone.

I have three major tools in accomplishing this task:

1- Keep the healthy eating and exercise habits I already have. I have learned a lot about my body and keeping it healthy in the last two years. My major habits are that I always eat five fruits and vegetables a day and excercise at least five times a week. Gotta keep it up.

2- To manage the sweets. Sugar is my weakness. I am kinda a ice creamaholic! I will only be allowing myself one serving of desserts a day and only on days I exercise. I vow to do this.

3- To ramp up on my marathon training. I am training for the Salt Lake Marathon on April 18. I am currently running between 15 and 20 miles a week. I need to incerease to 23-28 miles a week. This is a TON of running. But if I don't want to die on April 18, it's a must.

Time frame- I lost the 40 slowly (it took two years), and I don't expect this to be much different, I just don't want to be at the standstill I am at now. My goal is to be 10 lbs lighter for summer by June 1, 2009.

So, here I go!
